Renuka Ashok are warm, honest hosts. They bring a lovely simple breakfast each day, and we added our own meats, cheese, and jams from Super U. Cleaning and linen changes were regular. Their tubby, fat black labrador Shiva is friendly and not intimidating even if you're not a dog person. Impala was excellent value for a long stay, with a self-contained apartment and plenty of room to work out at home. The wifi was very good for working remotely, and there's a full kitchen. Google Maps has the location wrong: another Impala is just down the road, and that's the correct spot. Trou aux Bich is quiet and private, while Mon Choisy is lively and busy, and both are easy to reach. There's an outdoor calisthenics station a quick jog from Mon Choisy. A bus to Super U Grand Baie, the best supermarket in the country, costs 30MUR and comes often. Paul's bakery is on that route too. Peryberye is another 3km on, with a nice mix of locals and tourists, and there's also an express bus to Port Louis. The negative reviews here seem wide of the mark to me. They sound like mismatched expectations from visitors who want a private all-inclusive resort for €30/night and complain about no pool or sea view. That says more about those guests' naivety and lack of understanding than about problems with this accommodation.

The apartment is exceptional for the money, and I felt very at home there. Renuka & Ashok were absolutely lovely, and Sheeba the black labrador is very friendly. It's in a great spot between two popular beaches. I personally recommend Mon Choisy. Parking out front is easy. The bed is comfortable, and there are a shower, fans, and a fully working kitchen for a short stay. I stayed a week. Breakfast was excellent, especially the well-made omelette. I'd most likely stay again. Recommended.

Ashok and his wife were really helpful while we were there, and it was an easy place to enjoy. Mon Choisy beach and a few nice restaurants are just a few minutes away on foot. We really liked our stay at the Impala and would definitely recommend it.

Absolutely awful. We booked and paid for three nights but left after just one, and couldn't wait to get out of this dirty accommodation. The self-contained apartment had a broken door, exposed electrical cables in the wall, and dangerous electrical leads. The room hadn't been cleaned, with dust everywhere from the neighboring construction site. The sheets smelled unclean, and there was used soap in the bathroom. The TV didn't work, the refrigerator leaked water onto the floor, and the window looked straight at a building two metres away. The outside door lock was broken, so there was no security. Breakfast was very basic. When we pointed out these problems to the owner, they suggested it was acceptable. Complete joke. I'd give it minus stars if I could.

We only stayed one night, but it was a lovely property, close to most amenities and tucked away somewhere quiet and peaceful. The apartment is gorgeous, and Mr Jheelan and his wife are humble, down-to-earth people who understand hospitality. Their beautiful black Labrador deserves a special mention too. Breakfast was freshly made, with eggs, bread, butter, jam, cheese, coffee, and tea. The kitchen has what you'd need to cook: a full stove with oven, microwave, kettle, cutlery, crockery, and other basics. There's WiFi, and the room is large, airy, and has lots of light. Mont Choisy beach is very close, as are La croisette, Mont Choisy, and Super U shopping malls. The light bulbs should be checked before guests arrive. Thanks for the warm welcome and fond farewell.
