Gold Leaf Hotel

From the balcony or the hotel's rooftop, you get a crazy view of the Indian Ocean. The food was satisfying and room service was good. The guests received good hospitality overall.

I visited the area today and was surprised to be met by an aggressive, mannerless Pakistani man. He was getting worked up at people who were only trying to find their way. Keep your frustration and stinky attitude away from the public. Too bad there's no zero-star option.

There was a rat-like smell in the hallway and a cockroach smell in the wardrobe. The room had cups, but no coffee or kettle, and there's no restaurant, so you have to go out and find food. The bed was hard and lower than my knee. The TV, about the size of a computer monitor, didn't work and had no remote. The AC did run but couldn't cool the room, even in May, which is almost winter in the southern hemisphere. The bath was patched, and there was an open hole where the hair dryer or shaver socket should be. Strangely enough, the WiFi was decent. I couldn't wait to see what breakfast would be like. It turned out simple but quite tasty: an omelet, a loaf of bread, a small yoghurt, cheese, and a piece of fruit, with coffee or tea. I don't usually eat bread, but this was nice with cheese and butter. I complained at the front desk in the morning, and they immediately looked for another room. It looked like the first, but didn't smell and the AC worked. My local hosts then asked me to get ready to check out, as they wanted to move me elsewhere. With all those problems, it's hard to see how the place is advertised as 3 stars. Google doesn't let you give zero stars.

I just went there. The food was really good, and the service too. I'll have to go again.
