Escale Vacances

My husband and I stayed for just one night and didn’t feel comfortable there. The location is great and the food was amazing, but there were a lot of downsides. There’s no lift, so we had to carry our luggage up to the second floor, and the rooms were dark with little light. Breakfast didn’t have much variety. We ate outside on the veranda terrace, and the next day at around 15:00 our plates and beer bottles were still there. It may be within walking distance of the center, but it wasn’t a place for us.

The staff were generally polite and accommodating, but the problems outweighed that. I’m staying at Escale Vacances with my family and want to leave now. I can’t wait for tomorrow. We paid about Rs42K for full board, yet soft drinks and some basic, cheap items from the minibar cost extra. That wasn’t made clear when booking, and I felt misled. When I asked management to waive the roughly Rs 400 drink charge, I got a negative response. They focused instead on my 16:15 checkout rather than the usual 14:00, without considering that we arrived late, around 21:30, when standard check-in is 13:00. That lack of flexibility was frustrating, especially with my newborn and toddler. The New Year’s menu wasn’t varied, and breakfast was the same each day: two eggs, one sausage, margarine, a tiny bowl of jam, and a few slices of bread. They made no effort to make the meals feel special for the occasion. Afternoon tea was just a cup of tea, with no pastries, not even a biscuit. The sheets and towels were repeated daily, and food service was slow, which was particularly hard with kids. I was glad I’d brought snacks for them. I also found it surprising that I paid almost as much for my toddler as for an adult, but there was no children’s menu or designated kids’ corner, which made meals more difficult and left us feeling undervalued. There were no special end-of-year activities or entertainment, just a few crackers. The lack of events during the festive season added to the disappointment, especially for the premium price. I don’t recommend Escale Vacances, particularly for families or a special occasion. I hope management takes the feedback on board.

The food was tasty and good quality, and the staff were very friendly. Clean place and simple, good service. Keep it up.

I stayed here for many days some years ago while desalination plants were being built. I remember that time fondly, especially the hotel staff, who were always friendly and attentive. I hope to return one day and see my old friends. I recommend the hotel for many good reasons, and send my regards to everyone on the staff. Ciao from Italy.
