The setting was magnificent, and everyone was welcoming. We tried fish curry, octopus salad, papaya salad with rice and lentils, plus potato fritters to start and gato coco at the end. The food was good, though the fish curry was probably a little too salty. At Rs500 each, it felt very expensive for Mauritius / Rodrigues. Meals at Cotton Bay hotel cost Rs250 to Rs400, and Chez Madame La Rose is Rs325; both are excellent and include rice and salad. I went because of the reviews, but considering the price against the quality, and what the people with me thought, I’d probably choose one of those places next time, especially with a big group.
