Veranda Tamarin Hotel and Spa

The staff were super friendly and helpful, and we’d love to come back. The room was lovely and cleaned early each morning. Fresh beach towels came daily, and there were beach mats and a portable cool box to take on day trips. The little fridge was very powerful, as was the air conditioning. The pools were great, and being just opposite the beach was fantastic. We also enjoyed the good breakfast buffet and the really good Crazy fish restaurant. This hotel could easily be a 4 star rather than a 3. Thanks to everyone there!

We had a relaxing two-night getaway at Veranda Tamarin. The room was cosy, comfortable, and clean, and the staff made a great impression. Everyone was welcoming, polite, and ready to help, which made us feel valued. Dinner was the weak point. The food quality wasn't as good as we'd expected and could use improvement. We still had a nice stay and appreciate the team's effort. With better dining, the experience could be excellent.

I stayed for 3 nights beginning on 12 May 2026, and the repeated lack of attention left me feeling uncomfortable, marginalised, and unwelcome. As a Mauritian guest, I came away feeling I was given much less attention than foreign guests. I hope this wasn't intentional, but after several similar incidents it was hard not to feel discriminated against. At dinner on my first evening, around 8:30 pm, nobody welcomed me or showed me to a table. I was dining alone and had to find a seat myself. No one acknowledged my arrival, asked my room number, offered help, took a drink order, or checked whether I needed anything. The only interaction that evening was someone placing a bottle of water on my table. Meanwhile, guests around me, especially foreign guests, were getting regular attention, help to their tables, and drink service. The same difference in attentiveness showed up at breakfast the next morning. On my second evening, despite being on half board, I skipped dinner because I didn't want to go through it again. I gave the restaurant another chance on my final evening, but the problems remained. Other guests were welcomed and helped to their tables while I found my own seat again. There was no flatware at my table, so I had to ask for it. Water came after a while, and it took about 30 minutes for a staff member to ask my room number. Before posting this review, I tried to address the matter privately and professionally, sending a formal email to the hotel's General Manager and giving management a chance to investigate and resolve it. I received no meaningful follow-up or attempt to contact me, and it didn't seem to be treated as important. Hospitality should mean equal respect and attention for all guests, regardless of nationality. That wasn't what I experienced here.

The view from the rooftop pool is amazing, but the pool itself is tiny. Rooms are very compact, and the toilet and wash basins are in two separate locations. The fans were dusty and hadn't been cleaned. There was hardly anything to do, apart from boring live music, and it wasn't entertaining. The biggest problems were the parking and food. There’s no designated guest parking, so we were told to use Tamarin beach public parking, where spaces were already taken and hard to find. Dinner at Ye!Man restaurant was a disaster: few buffet options, oily food, and poor taste. The chop suey tofu was frozen, and pizza was served on a regular plate instead of a hot one. Some restaurant staff seemed careless and unfamiliar with the drinks they served. Breakfast wasn't great either, and the stay didn't feel worth the money. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Avoid if possible.
