Bel Azur Beachfront Suites and Penthouses by Lov

The place is amazing and excellent value for what you get. The apartments and facilities match what’s shown in the pictures.

We stayed with friends and came away with mixed feelings. The property has a lovely view, a good location near local attractions, and the shared pool was cleaned regularly. But there was a bad-smelling leak under the sink, and we couldn’t use the living-room air conditioning because its remote was missing. Staff couldn’t find it either. On our first night we ordered a full meal with starter, main and dessert, but only the main arrived. After a long discussion, they refunded us and offered a free meal the next day. Housekeeping was poor: the rooms were cleaned only on our tenth and final day, instead of every four days, and the towels weren’t changed until that last day. We asked several times for toilet paper, but nobody brought any, so we bought our own. Breakfast was identical every day, with no variety. We reported a broken fob for the entrance gate, but it was never replaced, so we had to call reception each time. There was also a serious safety problem: the gate has no sensors and closed unexpectedly, damaging the bumper of our rental car.

When we arrived at Bel Azure in the evening, our assigned parking spot was occupied and the lot was full. After we spent about 20 minutes trying to contact someone, the person in charge finally told us to park wherever we could find space. The accommodation wasn’t ready as expected: all the windows were open and the lock didn’t work, there was no toilet paper, the kitchen floor was wet, the coffee table was broken and the fridge door was rusty. The cleaning seemed superficial. Breakfast was disappointing too. We repeatedly asked for just fried eggs, not cold omelets or things like stale croissants, but they got our order wrong more than once. They managed it one day, then went back to sending the wrong items. After day three, we gave up and bought our own breakfast. The beds were comfortable, the pool and outdoor area were nice, and the staff were friendly, but there are better-managed places around.

It’s an excellent Airbnb, but I gave it four stars because the beach there has lots of black rocks and isn’t ideal for swimming.
