The local people were so welcoming and seemed genuinely glad to have visitors, and staying on Dhangethi felt like good value while supporting the local economy. The island rules were easy for us to respect: there’s no alcohol because of the religion, and you need to dress appropriately. We already wear UV clothing, so we could use all the beaches. At Ari Grand Hotel, the staff made us feel welcome from the start and the service was consistently warm. We were a minute from the bikini beach and only a few minutes from restaurants and cafes along the other side of the island. Our room was spacious and modern, with a balcony and a lovely view. Breakfast changed from day to day, with cereal, fruit, and bread always available. We also enjoyed a complimentary evening buffet with a mix of Maldivian dishes. The hotel offers excursions too. On the Whale Shark trip, there was only one other guest, and we were lucky enough to see and swim alongside a whale shark. We had a great time. I’d happily recommend Ari Grand Hotel and hope more people consider visiting the local islands.

Odey and the hotel staff made us feel cared for from the welcome drink right through to a surprise dinner. Odey deserves special thanks for his kindness and support, which made the trip so memorable. It was my first time in the Maldives, and we had all kinds of adventures, from scuba diving to swimming with nurse sharks, manta rays, and turtles. We also got to see the magical glow of tiny plankton. Staying at Ari Grand Hotel was a lovely choice, especially with Dhangethi Beach so close. We could enjoy beautiful sunrises and sunsets every day.

For such an isolated place, it was pretty good. The room was clean and there was hot water in the bathroom. The hotel did a nice job with its services and helped us arrange transfers from the airport. When our plans changed, Vamshee at the front desk was especially helpful.

The beach dinner was the best part of our trip, and we tried almost all the excursions. The food spread was amazing too. We got upgraded to a sea view room, and the location is excellent, just 30 seconds from bikini beach. What really stood out, though, was the service. Ode, the hotel manager, went out of his way to make everything better than perfect. A solid 10/10 experience.

The people here were the highlight for us. O Dey, the manager, was always around, and Deepa and Vamshi at the front desk were incredibly helpful with information and tips for enjoying the hotel and island. Everyone was friendly and smiling, and we really appreciated how much they did to make the trip memorable. We spent ten days at Ari Grand in a junior suite with an ocean view. The room was clean, comfortable, and had an amazing view. A friendly housekeeper brought water and tidied the room daily, with towels changed every other day. Breakfast was simple and tasty, on about a four-day rotation. We booked several excursions through the hotel and enjoyed them all. There were a few days when whale sharks hadn’t been sighted. While other boats went out and saw none, O Dey waited until there was a better chance before sending a boat. We did see a whale shark, and it felt like he cared more about guests having a good trip than just making money.
