Portia Hotel & Spa

For a week at Portia, we had a comfortable, clean stay with friendly and helpful staff throughout. The food was the best on the island, served quickly and tasting really good. The hotel is near the northern Bikini Beach, which we thought was the best beach on the island, and they supplied sun loungers and umbrellas. They arranged two great excursions for us, plus transport to and from Male. Santo is a wonderful hotel manager, and the whole team are consistently kind. Highly recommended, we'll definitely return.

We couldn't have been happier with Portia. The rooms stayed clean and fresh, and the location is one of the island's best, right by the most beautiful bikini beach. Every room has a stunning sea view, and the restaurant tables sit directly on the beach, making dinner by the ocean feel magical. The staff were kind and attentive all the way through. Jahirul deserves special thanks for his kindness, availability, and professionalism. He made my birthday unforgettable by arranging a romantic dinner with soft lighting, and always greeted us with a genuine smile at meals. Chef Jewel prepared delicious food each day and carefully adjusted sides and recipes to our tastes. Shanto was thoughtful and professional too: he had our sunbeds and umbrellas ready daily, kept them safe while we were diving, arranged excursions and fishing trips, and worked around our unusual requests for room cleaning. The team's care made this holiday truly special.

The bathroom was the one thing I disliked, the sewer smell was awful. I know the hotel isn't brand new, but that odor was bad. The room itself was decent and spacious, with a really comfortable bed. My husband is fussy about pillows, yet we both slept well. We stayed in 302 for three nights. Breakfast was easily the best, with a different menu each morning, usually eggs, bread, desserts, fruit, coffee, tea, and cereal. Dinner was surprisingly good too: we ordered Tandoori chicken and Bami Goreng, and both were tasty.

We stayed four nights on the standard bed and breakfast plan, which was plenty for us. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well equipped, with a mini fridge, a lovely bathroom, and an incredibly comfortable bed. Breakfast changed daily, and we could eat by the ocean. If you're lucky, you might even see baby sharks! Royale and Ibrahim deserve thanks for arranging our harbour transfers. This was the first hotel of our trip and ended up being one of the best, thanks to the great staff and service. Fantastic value for money, highly recommend!
