Sabba Summer Suite Maldives

We had a really lovely holiday, definitely our best. The island has local residents, which made the visit more interesting since we prefer seeing everyday life where we travel. Our three-year-old was very happy there, and the place is welcoming for children. The beach is beautiful, with palm shade and plenty of room, and the reef is easy to reach with wonderful marine life. Milo and the whole staff looked after us so well. Transport from Male was organized smoothly, and the small plane ride was a fun adventure.

Sabba Summer Suite on Fohdhoo gave us a lovely mix of comfort and local character. The views from the quiet Fohdhoo Island setting were beautiful, and our clean, spacious room had thoughtful decor and a cozy feel. The staff were especially friendly and always ready to help with a smile. I'd highly recommend staying here for a memorable visit.

The trips and great photos each day, along with the snorkeling on the island reef, made it a wonderful way to experience Maldivian life while staying in a small family resort. 😊🔝

The people running Sabba Summer Suite made the stay special. We chatted on WhatsApp before arriving, and they helped arrange local flights from Male to Ifuru ($100 per flight), then picked me up for the boat to Fodhdhoo. The owners took an active interest in guests and in improving the place, and I hope their plans go well so I can return. The guesthouse has three newly built garden rooms, each with a small patio facing the well-kept grounds. My room was nice and had good air conditioning, though the bathroom felt a little stuffy and could use more ventilation. Meals are served on a large terrace with beach sand underfoot, a roof for shade and fans for airflow. Breakfast is included and changes daily. The Maldivian breakfast on Friday was my favorite. I also loved being able to order fresh fish from the surrounding ocean each day, such as a whole grilled reef fish with rice and salad for $15. Fishing together and having our host Abdullah grill the catch later were real highlights. The island itself is lightly populated, with lots of forest and remote beaches. The sand, water and vegetation looked as pristine as a postcard, and the water was just the right temperature. There are nearby sandbanks to visit and plenty of marine life around the reefs. I loved having a beautiful beach on the island's southwestern corner to myself. The main hotel beach is lovely too, and with only a handful of tourists it never felt crowded. There was noise from harbor construction, scheduled to last until February 2018, which was unfortunate against the island's otherwise peaceful, car-free atmosphere. I was happy with my little beach, though. The staff were friendly and attentive. Boat trips off the island aren't exactly cheap, but at least three professionals crew each boat, and they're skilled freedivers who know a lot about the sea. That added a lot to our snorkeling. We saw dolphins on a couple of trips, and each time the crew drew them right to the boat with drumming and high-pitched noises.
