All the faculty and students were well looked after during the University of Plymouth's recent scientific research trip. Mr Ali and the whole team, including the domestic staff and boat handlers, went above and beyond. Thanks for hosting all of us. Hope to see you next year. J

The surrounding uninhabited islands are beautiful, with excellent snorkeling and marine life. There’s also an on site research station with a lab, making the place ideal for scientists doing marine research in Huvadhu atoll. Staying in a local village on Faresmaathoda was a special part of a unique Maldives experience, and I’d highly recommend it to travelers looking for that. I had a fantastic two week stay in a clean, comfortable, relaxing lodge, and the team looked after us extremely well. The food was great.

Ali from the guesthouse took great care of us, taking us by speed boat to beautiful, quiet islands where we could spend the whole day. We also visited lovely snorkeling spots with turtles, rays, lots of fish, and even a shark. You can borrow all the equipment from the guesthouse. The staff were kind and helpful, and picked us up wherever we were. The lodge is on an island where local people live, always smiling. If you want special natural surroundings, it’s highly recommended. We had a wonderful time at the small island lodge. It’s very clean, with a big, comfortable room and bathroom, and a large bed. We had freshly cooked local and western food every day. If you’re looking for a special place in the Maldives, choose here.

A good place to spend a holiday.

There are no beaches here. We walked all the way around the island and couldn’t find any sand along the shore. Swimming from shore isn’t possible either, since the water is too shallow, and you can’t walk out to the edge of the reef. The place is run down, so $60 a night feels far too expensive. The nearby islands might be nice, but we chose not to visit them. After one night, we went back to diving in Fuvahmulah.
