Whiteshell Island Hotel & Spa

The location was great, with everything nearby, and they picked us up at the jetty. I also got the facilities I expected: AC, Wi-Fi, a fridge, balcony, a table and chair for using my laptop, drawers, TV, and a hot water jug. Communication with the owner was easy, and he replied very quickly, unlike at other hotels. Everything worked well for me. I work at a 4 star resort, and I thought this place was good. I don't understand the negative feedback from others.

The food at Masala Street was delicious, with the typical Indian flavors. The staff even offered to make things for us, including freshly squeezed watermelon and orange juices each day. Rooms were cleaned daily and the towels changed. We had a lovely time here. Everyone was kind and helpful, and the hotel is a good recommendation for someone without very high expectations. I'd recommend it to anyone beginning their Maldives adventure.

We ate all three meals at the hotel on full board and never went hungry. The chef can cook really well, though there was so much sauce on the beef, fish, and chicken that it could be hard to tell which one you were eating. Three different sauces might help. Next time I'd ask for less sauce. I know cost may be a factor, and perhaps guests could choose soup or salad instead of being given both. The room was clean and got cleaned every day. The hotel is close to the beach but not right on it, and the free sunbeds there looked like the best ones. The staff were great and helpful. We mostly dealt with the younger staff, and nobody was overlooked or forgotten.

The location is convenient, but the service wasn't good enough and my room wasn't clean. I found an insect in my bed at night, and breakfast wasn't served. For the same price, I could have stayed somewhere better, with a warmer welcome and breakfast included. When we checked out, there was nobody at the front desk.
