Maalhos felt like a real Maldivian island, with welcoming locals, lovely beaches and clear water. Hanifaru Bay is nearby, where we snorkelled and swam among lots of mantas. At Maclura residence guest house, our room was spotless and comfortable, and Firaaq was friendly, professional and quick to help with anything we asked. The home-cooked local meals, made by the family with fresh fish, fruit, rice and coconuts, were simply sublime. We'd recommend staying here to our friends.

We were the only tourists on the island besides one other couple, so it felt like we had the beaches to ourselves. A lovely spot to unwind, and everyone was really friendly and helpful.
