Kaani Lodge

We arrived expecting only a bed for the night and ended up finding the place brilliant, with friendly, helpful staff and good value for money. I gave four stars because we had to ask for a second towel, water, and toiletries. Wi-Fi works in the lobby and on the first floor, though we hardly used it.

The staff were somewhat good, but they couldn’t sort out guests’ problems. The road is narrow, and there are many slums nearby. We stayed three days and had the same breakfast each day: omelet, sausage, and three bread slices. Wi-Fi was only available in the lobby at first. In room 403, the air conditioning didn’t work properly, the TV didn’t work, and there wasn’t even a remote. They didn’t change the sheets or towels or clean the room. No soap, toothpaste, or other toiletries either. We got only two small water bottles for three people for all three days. There’s no elevator, and breakfast is on the fifth floor. Don’t spoil your leisure time in rooms like these.

Compared with other lodges in Malé, the room was good and clean. The location is convenient too, with easy access to the hospital, pharmacy, groceries, and supermarket.

I’ve stayed here several times, and the staff are really nice. Being close to the ferry is an advantage, especially when it’s difficult to find a cab. The hotel does need renovation.
