Rasdhoo Stay Hotel

We chose Rasdhoo Stay after finding Aline through a Maldivian fishing trip company, and the rates were competitive with other places we checked on the island. The rooms were simple but clean and had what we needed, and the restaurant served authentic Chinese food. The best part was how Aline, her husband, and the staff looked after us. There were Chinese and local Maldivian staff, and Gante and Sabile helped me get better at freediving. Since my parents are older, Aline and her husband made sure there were enough staff on each outing so they could feel safe while snorkeling with nurse sharks, turtles, and manta rays. Dad also had a fantastic first sea fishing trip. They went out of their way to make it a fun and meaningful family holiday. I’d recommend Rasdhoo Stay to friends traveling on a budget. If my parents return to the Maldives, I’m sure they’d stay here for part of the trip. shukuriyyaa🙏🏽 🐬

Our room was cleaned almost daily, the AC worked, and we each got a 500ml bottle of water every day. We also booked the sunset dolphin trip, which went well and gave us lovely dolphin sightings. Those were the few bright spots in a two-week stay in February 2024. At the ferry terminal, nobody was there to meet us. Someone else brought us to the hotel, where staff didn’t know we were coming and had no room ready. After waiting 2,5 hours, we were given a room in another building, farther from the bikini beach. It was in poor condition, with ants, no hot water, stained curtains, a broken fridge, and a door that wouldn’t lock. Breakfast meant walking back to the original Rasdhoo Stay building each day. It was messy and full of flies, and the meal choices never changed: instant ramen noodles with egg and sausage, or three pieces of toast with butter, jam, egg, and sausage. No fruit or other options. Drinks were water, juice, or coffee, and they wouldn’t substitute the egg or sausage. When we were leaving, the housekeeper told us at about 11am to be out by 12, despite the time agreed the day before and confirmed that morning. We offered to leave at 12:30, but he got angry and pushed us out while he cleaned. It often felt as if we weren’t guests and had to do whatever he wanted immediately. The nice online photos and reviews didn’t match our experience. We wouldn’t recommend staying here for a relaxing holiday. Rasdhoo itself has beautiful nature and very friendly locals, and we’d like to visit again, but never stay at Rasdhoo Stay.

Avoid this place for activities in Rasdhoo. The organization was terrible, and staff would lie to sell an overpriced tour, then send you to a different company for the activity. It seemed like money mattered more than safety. One of their customers died while snorkeling after they allegedly refused to provide life jackets. Stay away if you want a good island experience.

We booked online for February 2024, but when we arrived they said there was no room for us. In the end, they put us in a building still under construction for the same price. There was dirt, people constantly coming and going, and construction noise at 10pm. We also found BEDBUGS in the bed, and nobody even apologized. I had to do my own laundry so we wouldn’t bring the bugs back to spain. We spoke to some locals, and they don’t support this business. Worst stay of my life.
