Veyvah Inn Maldives

We had an awesome stay, and we’ll be back. Nadeem was attentive to everything we needed, and all his staff were great, both at the guest house and on the boats for surfing or fishing. Veyvah is well worth a visit for the surf and for exploring its beautiful island, welcoming locals, and charming culture.

Captain Sun and guide Saddah were so friendly, and they did their best to work around what we needed. The boat ride to the surf and snorkelling spots took about ten minutes, and the service was very efficient. Meals were generous, with lots of flexibility on timing. We found this gem for an affordable surf trip in May 2024, when the Maldives islands had become very expensive. Veyvah island felt like an earthly paradise, a truly authentic holiday. The property is lovely, with tropical plants dotted around a little garden in the middle. Nadim and his family are lovely too, and did everything to make us feel at home. Highly recommended.

Veyvah (Playground) was the wave I fell in love with. Surfing there was an absolute dream, and the value for money is as good as it gets for surfing in the Maldives. Across seven sessions, I had the place to myself for six. The other session had six surfers from a surf safari there too. I spent seven nights surfing on Veyvah in August. Nadeem and Naajih handled everything and were always around to answer questions. Nadeem arranged my transport before I arrived, then took care of the departure changes I needed because of a storm. The boat captain stayed waiting and kept an eye on me the whole time.

The cafes made us feel at home too. Both welcomed us every night and went out of their way to find a rice, noodle, or Kotthu dish that suited us. We loved the Maldivian breakfast, it was tasty and very filling. Thanks to both cafes. We came to Veyvah Inn after busy travel days and crowded places, and it was just what we needed. Nadheem arranged our speedboat transfers and welcomed us to the island. He kept checking on us each day, making sure we knew we could reach him if we needed anything. We felt he had our interests at heart. The community also made us comfortable, greeting us with smiles on our daily walks and helping us appreciate the island. The guesthouse was spotless and smelled nice, with clean linens and lots of towels. The blue tiles and fresh paint made it charming, and it was well kept and welcoming. It felt like the most naturally comfortable guesthouse we stayed in, with everything we needed, even a safe. Fresh water delivered to our door every day made us smile and feel cared for. Nadheem offers private tours, and I can say they’ll be very personalized. We travel for surfing, and there were nearby waves with very few other surfers, apart from passing surf boats. Veyvah lets you see small island life at a quiet pace, without the bustle of tourism or businesses. Take long walks by the shore, along the jungle road, and through the village streets. You can see the distinctive tuna smoking, or visit one of the country's oldest mosques. Be patient, quiet, respectful, and modest, and the local island will welcome you into everyday life.
