Hotel BaXar

This was easily my worst hotel stay, especially for the price. The pool was out of order, the water stopped while I was showering within the first minute, and the Wi-Fi didn’t work in the room. The private parking was chaotic, and a couple of the towels were dirty. I wouldn’t recommend it 😤😤😤

The food was one of the best parts of our stay, with generous portions at very affordable prices, and the cocktails were great too. We came to Hotel BaXar after seeing family in Acapulco, shortly after hurricane Otis. They had just reopened, and while other hotels were still struggling to recover, BaXar seemed fully back on its feet. Since we arrived early, they brought us cocktails and food while we waited for our room. Service stayed top notch throughout. We had the same servers every day, and they quickly learned what we liked. The rooms were spacious and clean, with air conditioning and no road noise, just the sound of the waves. The view is gorgeous, the pool was clean, and the staff kept the shared areas tidy. Music played during the day, without starting too early or going on too late. We spent hours sipping coffee and looking at the beach. Highly recommend.

The beach conditions are the first thing I wish we’d known before arriving. The waves are high and the open ocean isn’t safe for swimming, so that should be made clearer in the hotel description. Our room was also very hot, poorly ventilated, and had only a fan, which made sleeping difficult. Air conditioning in every room would help. There are plenty of good points: the Acapulco setting is beautiful, with amazing sunsets, and the food is very good and reasonably priced. Service was generally good, especially Esmeralda. The pool was clean, a nice size, and a good temperature. The facilities are pretty, and the chairs and hamacas downstairs by the beach are a lovely place to relax. It was inconvenient that guests can’t bring their own food or drinks to their rooms, while there are no snacks for sale at the hotel. Breakfast was also inconsistent. The continental option was sometimes inadequate, and one morning there wasn’t any bread, so we got only coffee and juice. If there’s no bread, they should offer something else. With improvements to the rooms, breakfast, and snacks, this place could be excellent.

I’ve stayed at Baxar twice and enjoyed both visits. It’s a small, peaceful place in Pie de la Cuesta, mainly suited to couples or solo travelers looking for a quiet break. The attached restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the food was very good for a fair price. The rooms have fans but no air conditioning. The decor is pretty plain, and the beds are okay, though not especially comfortable. The pool is small, enough for a quick dip to cool off from the sun.
