The breakfast was amazing, and some of the staff were really nice. The gym looked good, though I didn’t use it. There were long queues for breakfast because the dining area is too small for a hotel this size. The made-to-order eggs and quesadillas took about 40 minutes out of the day, though the food was really good once we got it. There was no free refill of natural water. The pool was a bit dirty, but not too bad. The building is in poor shape. Only one elevator was running, and it was so full that we couldn’t take it down, so we used the stairs for five floors every time. In our room, a locked connecting door let noise through from the next room, which wasn’t nice at night. A bright light outside shone onto the balcony and into the room, making the balcony unpleasant to sit on and the room uncomfortable too. The big issue was the payment. Booking showed 350 euros for two nights after discounts, but charged 850 euros, the standard price. At checkout, both amounts were shown, 350 in euros and about 850 in Mexican pesos without the discount. The euro amount near the payment button was displayed much larger, so we looked at that one, but they charged the pesos amount. We’re trying to get in touch with Booking and understand this may have been more their fault than the hotel’s. Still, the hotel offered no help at all and said they couldn’t do anything. We tried to cancel the minute after booking when we saw the charge, but got no response. Once we reached them, they let us cancel but said there would be no refund. We know the storm two years ago took a toll on the hotel, but 400+ euros a night is definitely not worth it. Around 100-200 would be reasonable. Be careful with Booking ;-)

The team is making a big effort to keep guests comfortable while the hotel recovers from the hurricane. Some services still aren’t fully running, and check-in and checkout are tedious because the systems and technology need work. It would also be nice if they offered golf packages. A few other details kept this from being a five-star stay for me, like not offering more coffee capsules and not allowing guests to bring chips or nuts.

I spent a week here on a business trip, then stayed a couple more days to unwind. The hotel is still recovering from the damage caused by hurricane Otis, and we ran into some inconveniences. The staff were mostly friendly and helpful, and the pool activities and music and dancing in the lobby were enjoyable. The Spa treatments were worth it after work, though the sauna, vapor, and jacuzzi rotation they had before the hurricane wasn’t available yet, so the full experience wasn’t back. The nightly rate and prices at the shops, restaurants, and spa are at a five-star level, but some parts of the service didn’t match that. Our room wasn’t properly clean when we arrived, and I had to call to get the visibly dirty areas cleaned. The mattress felt cheap and very firm, its base wobbled, and I woke up with backaches instead of feeling rested. The bathroom exhaust fan was broken and there was no A/C, so it got uncomfortably humid. I did appreciate the complimentary Nespresso coffee. Usually only one of the four elevators was operating. They fit no more than 10 people, had no A/C, and stopped at every floor on the way down from the upper levels. I felt bad for the employees working in them for hours without airflow while handling guest complaints. Including breakfast is worthwhile because there aren’t many breakfast places nearby. It was mostly Mexican classics, with custom omelettes and quesadillas made to order. The stations got really hot, and the employees just had to put up with it. Could they get fans? Birds have also learned to take bread or pick at unattended plates, which was kind of gross. Restaurant prices seemed high. The waitresses were always friendly and busy, but at some restaurants it took a while to get a table and be served. The chaise lounges by the pools and on the beach weren’t very comfortable and had no cushions. Third-party vendors set up nicer loungers that guests have to pay for. It’s confusing when they’re so close to the hotel’s areas, and I don’t understand why the hotel doesn’t provide that kind of comfortable setup itself. Finding a parking spot could be difficult, especially on the weekend. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, though a few could learn from them.

I visited from seattle in october 2025, and found a cockroach in my room 0834. The main pool was still closed, there were no activities or entertainment, and the staff weren’t friendly. The elevator made a lot of noise and its doors slammed on people getting in and out, which didn’t seem safe. Food was very expensive too, and the hotel is extremely overpriced.

We had problems in both rooms: one had a sliding door that wouldn’t lock and an AC that didn’t work properly, while the other had a leaking fixture handle. The bell hops mostly stood around socializing instead of helping guests. Worst of all, staff didn’t keep their word when they promised something. I won’t stay here again.
