The courtyard layout was cool, and the hotel did what we needed, giving us a few hours of rest. We arrived late in Ajijic and the watchman let us in. The room was okay, but the restroom was less than desirable. There was no drinking water in the room, and the courtyard dispenser had no bottle on top, so bugs had gotten in. When I asked about it, the guy opened a new jug and put it on. One guest’s alarm clock also rang for about half an hour before the watchman finally handled it.

Charming, affordable hotel in a terrific spot, with a comfortable room and bed. During the first few very hot days we had several power outages, which also knocked out the AC, and the water was off for a while. The maintenance man got on those problems quickly.

I spent three months at La Estancia Hotel and really enjoyed it. The other guests made for great company, and the whole staff were friendly and professional. I think it’s by far the best value in Ajijic, and I’ll definitely return.
