Blue Hotel Bacalar

The rooms are roomy, clean, and kept tidy, with daily cleaning and comfortable beds. I booked a double room and it had two double beds, so there was plenty of space. José opened the hotel about ten months ago and is a kind, friendly, enthusiastic host. Coffee, a few beers, and a good chat came with the price, even though the booking site didn’t mention them.

The family made the stay feel safe and comfortable. The owner is kind and trustworthy, and gives recommendations that fit what you’re looking for. His wife is warm and friendly, and clearly works hard keeping the place clean. Their son is attentive and professional. They also give guests plenty of space, so it almost feels as if you have the property to yourself. It’s close to the centre and the places to go out, but away from the loud party areas. When I come back to Bacalar, I’ll stay here again without hesitation. Please treat these people well, they feel like family to me now.

It was more like four rooms in a small house than a hotel, but it did what we needed. The owner was very friendly and the beds were comfortable. The air conditioning gave us a nice stretch of baby sleep. The Wi-Fi, though, was very weak.

The people working there were so lovely, and even helped me open my coconut. The rooms were clean, and the Wi-Fi worked really well.
