Casa Hormiga

Casa Hormiga made our time in lovely Bacalar even better. There’s convenient hotel parking right across from the entrance, and inside everything is immaculate, with lots of greenery and lovely shared spaces. Our room was stunning, with a small terrace and big windows that also serve as the door. The bathroom had a great shower, plenty of towel hooks, a separate toilet, a laundry basket for used towels, and a bag of towels to take to the lake. We really appreciated the attention to detail. We ate dinner here too, and the tacos were amazing and cocktails perfect. Thanks to the lovely staff member who made us delicious mezcal cocktails and was so friendly.

We loved staying here. The hotel is beautiful, quiet, and gorgeous inside, and the pools were cold and refreshing. Breakfast was good. There’s a cute coffee shop a block away and several lakefront restaurants within walking distance. Bacalar and this hotel were among our favorite parts of a month in Mexico. The town surprised us with its charm, good food, and art, and the lake was unreal, maybe even better than ocean beaches that are often covered in seaweed. We also took part in a Mayan ceremony at the hotel.

The rooms are beautiful, and the hotel has done a lovely job bringing in plant life. I could visit Bacalar a hundred times and keep picking this place. It has a great atmosphere, lovely people, excellent amenities, free yoga, breakfast, and a very cool library. The price is really good too.

We had great service the whole time, and the common areas made us feel welcome. The rooms are spacious and have everything you need. We also loved that bike rentals and the morning yoga class were free. The food and drinks were consistently good. A beautiful hotel in Bacalar, thanks for everything. Hopefully we can return!
