The room was roomy and had two double beds, a TV, and space for clothes. We were three people with a dog, and got a room right beside the lobby, so it was surprisingly quiet. A rooster across the street did start up around 4 or 5 in the morning. We could have used more towels and a bath mat, and the shampoo came in a tiny packet, so bring your own if you need more.

The hotel’s photos are misleading. I got a mouldy 6 sqm (60ft) capsule at the price of a decent 3-star hotel. It felt like a concrete bunker, with no mobile signal, let alone Wi-Fi, and no chairs or tables. The tour the hotel recommended cost twice as much as street options and was far worse quality. Stay away.

Jackhammering went on for most of the day because the hotel was a construction site. The complimentary instant coffee was only available from 7-11 am, and I had to beg for water for the kettle. Our room was barely bigger than one double bed, with the space poorly laid out, and the staff were no help. When we asked to upgrade, the “guard” said they were fully booked, though the hotel was actually empty.

This place is a complete nightmare and not worth the price. The bedroom felt like a prison cell. If you can't find somewhere to sleep, I'd skip staying in Bacalar rather than book a room here. I honestly think the hotel should be closed.
