Hotel Vista Guamilule

Being right by the ocean bay was the one good thing about this hotel. The room we were given was tiny and tucked into a corner, with a very small window and no view. The toilet was cramped, and there was no hot water. The water was so cold that kids would shiver, and I worried they might get sick. The pictures we saw when booking didn't match what we found on arrival. I wouldn't recommend it for families with children. If you're vegetarian, I would avoid this place. They don't allow outside food, but offer no vegetarian menu. When we were hungry, I asked if we could eat our own food on the property, at least in the restaurant, since there were no nearby restaurants and we didn't feel safe going out at night in a place we didn't know. The woman didn't suggest anywhere to eat. She said nobody here is vegetarian, which isn't true, since I know many Mexican people who are vegan or vegetarian. Her response left us feeling that vegetarians shouldn't come here. We had paid to stay there, but ended up eating in our car at night with our little girl. The parking lot was a few minutes' walk away, and walking there in the dark with nobody around felt scary. The swimming pool was tiny, so another family playing in it left us no room, and the water was cold and very dirty. The whole experience was deeply disappointing.

Gladys’ place was beautiful, and the staff made us feel so welcome. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the food was the best I've had on this trip. We spent the evening swimming at the beach until sunset. I absolutely loved it and can't wait to return soon.

It's a charming family-run enramada right on the beach. The hosts are warm and friendly, speak some English, and will cook things to your taste. They have fresh seafood choices every day, and the food is outstanding.

Tony, son Tony, and Carlos, thanks for a great meal. I asked about "Que es Pescade a la Talla?" in my pretty poor Espanol and arranged to come for dinner the next night. I tried Sierra Mackerel for the first time, and it was delicious. A la Talla is basically grilled over a wood fire with a secret sauce. I'd happily go back for more today. Stop in for a cold beer with Tony and son Tony too. They're both great guys and treat you well. If you're staying on Playa Blanca, you don't need to go all the way down to the row of enramadadas by the lagoon with everyone else. These guys will look after you.
