Unelma Bungalows

We stayed for a week in November 2024, and Unelma was gorgeous. The grounds, units, and pool are spectacular, and the beach and sunsets were amazing. Shops and restaurants are close by, and both meals we had at the neighboring Encore were excellent, including the food and service. The staff were so sweet and helpful, especially Maria. I can't remember everyone's names, but they checked daily that we had everything we needed, and you can tell how much pride they take in the place. We've tried many kinds of stays around Mexico over the years, from Airbnb to all-inclusive resorts, and this one is in our top 10. We can't wait to return, probably for two weeks or longer next time. I booked Unelma Bungalows through Booking.com, and they confirmed the reservation. When we arrived, no one was at the hotel, and the restaurant next door had a sign saying it was closed for the summer. We emailed through the app and called, but got no answer. We also sent a WhatsApp message, which they answered two days later by asking how they could help. When they finally replied through Booking, they said we needed to send a 50% deposit by PayPal to a random, non-business email address. With no sign the hotel was even open, why would I send payment? Why take a reservation if you're closed? This is unacceptable. I'd give zero stars. If you're closed, update your Booking profile and don't answer messages as if you're open.

A little piece of paradise. Unelma Bungalows has a lush, tropical feel, lovely rooms, and a beautiful beach and pool. It's also easy to walk to everything. Oscar, the owner, was friendly and kept the place spotless. I'd highly recommend it as a vacation spot.

Ada is a lovely owner, and Maria and Lucie are wonderful staff. The compound is beautiful, secure, small, and right on the beach, with its own private beach area and an attached jazz lounge. We'll definitely be back!
