Casa Dorada Los Cabos, Resorts & Spa

The staff made our honeymoon stay feel special. After I called a few days ahead to explain the occasion, they upgraded us at check-in to a king suite, added complimentary champagne, and gave us a lovely view of the rocks. We’d originally booked a smaller suite and hadn’t mentioned the honeymoon. Service, amenities, cleanliness, and the professionalism of every staff member were all a clear 5/5 for us. We’ll definitely stay at Casa Dorada next time we’re in Cabo.

The rooms were dated but very clean, and housekeeping was great. Still, Casa Dorada felt like a tired hotel with limited service that needs major refurbishment. It’s in a good location, with a small guest beach and two large pools, one with a swim-up bar. But a big restaurant built between the property and the water has almost completely blocked the beach and ocean view the hotel used to have. Don’t expect great views here. Only two of the seven advertised restaurants were open while I was there, and both had the same menu. Restaurant service was awful. I had to go find the host whenever I needed help. I was also sold a junior suite advertised as having breathtaking sea views, but got a view of the back of the bar and no sea at all. Juan at the front desk was dismissive and said I hadn’t “paid enough” for an ocean view, even though the listing clearly said otherwise. Strange place, with some shady booking practices. The area around the hotel is rough. In ten minutes, within 30 feet of the property, I was offered cocaine four times. That’s common in Los Cabos, but the hotel security seemed to be ‘in’ on it. This is NOT a luxury hotel, and anyone expecting one will be very disappointed.

Our cruise stop day at Casa Dorada Resort & Spa was one of the trip’s highlights. We spent most of the time at the beach, where our cabana had a stunning view of the famous arch. The rope barrier kept vendors from coming too close, which made it easier to relax. The day pass came with house wine, water, towels, butler service, and a food and beverage credit. We put it toward deep dish pizza, maki, calamari, mozzarella sticks, a banana split, cocktails, and mocktails. Everything was delicious. The resort was clean, roomy, and well cared for, too. Big thanks to our server, Jesus, who was warm, attentive, and quick to handle our requests. We had a great time and would love to return for a longer stay.

Ilse did a fantastic job with our beach photos. She was friendly, professional, and on time, and we loved the pictures she took. The turnaround was excellent, too. Highly recommended. Our stay at Casa Dorada was wonderful as well, with the property and service going beyond what we expected and making it a memorable visit.
