I’ve stayed in plenty of hostels and even worked in one, and Mayan Monkey Hostel does a good job balancing social energy with comfort. There’s a pool and daily activities, including cooking classes, so it’s easy to meet people without it feeling forced. The bar team, Paulina and Santiago, really kept things lively, and you can tell they care about the atmosphere. My dorm 101 was clean, and I got lucky with mindful roommates. One issue: once the common area closes at night, you can’t use the water refill station, so I had to buy water late. It would be great to have it available 24/7. I had a really good stay and would consider coming back. I wrapped up my time in Mexico 🇲🇽 in Los Cabos and stayed here.

The free daily activities are great for solo travelers and groups alike. I especially enjoyed the sushi-making and margarita cocktail-making classes. I stayed in an all-female dorm, which was relatively good, though the bathroom could use more cleaning throughout the day instead of just once a day, as you’d expect with 10 women sharing it. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the location by the pier made it easy to walk to all the main stuff. I had a fantastic stay over the NYE holiday. The Wi-Fi didn’t work in the room, though, so I had to use the common or pool area.

After a long, hot day out, it was refreshing to come back to the spacious rooms. The location is great, right downtown. On my first day I took a cooking class with Vanessa and Cris. They were amazing, entertaining hosts, and I’d definitely recommend it.

On my first day in Cabo I signed up for the free cooking class, and it was an amazing experience. We made Ceviche and got complimentary chips and a free shot too. I definitely recommend this place!!

I’m 52 and never felt out of place. In just two days, some of the free activities included painting a tote, learning to make ceviche, karaoke, and swimming. Vicente (chef and instructor) and his sous chef/interpreter, Santiago (Santi), were great at teaching us to make ceviche from scratch. The accommodations were great, and the staff, location, and daily activities were AWESOME. Such an AMAZING stay, highly recommend!!!!
