The Thursday market in the botanical gardens had some amazing artists when I went. Definitely check it out! This was my second visit with my family, who are elite members, and we stayed at the Novaspenia again. It's great for a large group. Our villa was just right, and we spent a lot of time enjoying the private pool and spa. Service was amazing everywhere. Everyone worked hard and deserves a lot of respect. Mitchel, Marco, and Manuel, the van drivers, were friendly and respectful. Bleddy at the owner's presentation was personally able and knowledgeable. Misael, our butler, was hardworking and always there when we needed him or had a question. Ivan and Jris at the zao shen were friendly, hardworking servers who checked in to make sure things were going well. Aligio was our friendly morning server at the Cíbola. A few food notes: the cold brew at the Market coffee shop was amazing, especially if you don't drink alcohol. I want to figure out how to make it at home so I can have it all year. At the Bistro, the huevos rancheros and Pueblo Bonito sunset were to die for. Every bite was heaven, and I was hooked from the first one. At Zao Shen, the Banana Spring Roll with Midori Strawberries and Crispy Apple Rolls were delicious. At Cíbola, the food was amazing, especially the oysters. Breakfast at Quivira Clubhouse was great and the service wonderful. The taco truck was decent on our first night, before the inclusive plan started, but the portions were small and it can get expensive fast. Room service was typical, nothing special in taste or presentation. There's a $5 delivery fee every time, which you can't charge to your room. You also have to enter your card details each time because you can't save a card on file. That's a real inconvenience. The After is always a good time, a sports bar by day that turns into a nightclub and is the place to party and dance at the resort. They now have hookah, and one person in my group paid for it. I found it weird in a club setting. It might work better as a hookah lounge in the afternoon or evening before The After becomes a club, with use limited to that period. Since they have to clean the hookah between guests, a scheduled time could be easier for employees. I can see that limiting the upsell, though, so management could look at how much revenue hookah brings in on its own. If you're staying at the Monte Cristo or Novispania, you can't use the sunset spa unless you pay extra or book a service. The Monte Cristo spa has a cold rain shower, but no cold plunge. My biggest disappointment was the lack of zero-proof liquor. There were still options for people who don't drink, but they felt limited. Since I'm new to not drinking, I didn't really know what to ask for. A mocktail with zero-proof liquor would have been nice, instead of having limonada with seltzer most of the time. At least two restaurants also charge extra for mocktails that aren't included in the inclusive plan. It felt like I was being punished for not drinking, which was extremely disappointing. I asked several employees why there's an extra charge, but nobody knew.
