Malecon Rental

The two-bedroom suite has a roomy, comfortable layout, a full kitchen that’s useful for longer visits, and wonderful views. Being right along the promenade, with views of the Cancun ocean and lagoon, makes mornings and evenings special. The location is central and puts you steps from everything you could need. We’ve stayed at Malecón Suites three times now, usually for two or three weeks, and it feels like a home away from home. The service has been excellent on every visit, friendly, professional and attentive. It’s safe, clean and very well maintained. For the price, the comfort, views and location are hard to beat. We’ll definitely return, highly recommended.

The stay was disappointing, and Malecon Suites Cancun didn’t live up to expectations. Our suite was worn down and poorly maintained. With four adults, the hot water running out almost immediately meant not everyone could shower properly. There were ants in the kitchen, which was unpleasant, and the couches and chairs were so worn that you sank badly when sitting down. When we needed help, it was very difficult to reach property management from the room.

Downtown is a great location, and the staff are amazing. I felt safe everywhere and had what I needed for a comfortable stay. The beach is not nearby, though, so set aside extra money if you want to spend a few days there. Knowing Spanish is a plus for the local experience, since this is a bit removed from the confort_hotel zone.

The staff I dealt with in person were good, and I had no problems with their service. Still, I’m not sure I’d come back. My room had several issues: there were long hairs on the sheets, the AC wouldn’t start until I called for help, and the hot water was cold until I complained. The walls are thin enough that loud neighbors carry through. There was a microwave and fridge, which I appreciated, but the coffee maker had no coffee at all. It seems pointless to have one without even a sachet. The weather was cold during my stay. When I tried the heater, it didn’t work, and the front desk said the hotel had no heaters because cold weather is unusual in Cancun. I understand it’s not typical, but I still expected a large, fairly expensive hotel to be prepared for the occasional cold spell. I asked for another blanket and was still cold. A major plus is the huge shopping mall within walking distance, with a private entrance. It has a grocery store, a food court, and plenty of other shops. The main Hotel Zone is also a reasonable drive away. At check-in, they asked for $100 or the equivalent in Pesos, in cash. I don’t remember seeing that mentioned when booking. This was my first stay, and I came away less impressed than I’d hoped.
