We had a lovely time here with our toddler. The ocean view from our two-bed room was gorgeous, and the balcony tub was such a treat. There were plenty of restaurant choices, and the buffet stayed open most of the day, with just a short pause between breakfast and lunch. The food was the best we’ve tasted at any resort we’ve been to. The place was very clean, though some rooms are a little dated. You can tell they’re trying hard. All the staff were super friendly, and Frida deserves a shout-out. The entertainment team was fun, and the kids’ club and play area were great for little ones.

We came to Seadust for a week to rest and relax, and that’s exactly what we got. The service was excellent throughout, and the staff really made the trip. Marcos at the Lobby Bar was so kind and cheerful that going there for a glass of wine after supper became our ritual. At the pool, Armando and David were attentive and made sure we could get a Miami Vice whenever we wanted. Leticia kept our room clean every day, and Enrique at the front entrance was very helpful. Oswaldo and Jonathan at Florencia, Roberto at Manhattan, Alberto at Big Ben, and Josue at Samurai were all welcoming and attentive. Our spacious room had a balcony we enjoyed, and it was super clean, though it could use some updating. The breakfast buffet had loads of options, including fresh fruit, bread, and eggs. Staff kept the coffee coming and cleaned up constantly. There were lots of chairs by the pool, and the poolside team kept the area clean. My one concern there was the handrails, which should reach right to the pool deck to help people with mobility issues. We ate at Big Ben Wine and Grill, Samurai twice, Manhattan, Florencio twice, and Grab and Go twice. The food was delicious. It was a great vacation, with lots of lovely staff and good meals. Loved it!

The food was good overall, with a mix of Mexican and American dishes. Breakfast was my favorite, even though I’m not usually a breakfast person. I would have liked more authentic food at other meals, but that’s just my preference. I was there for Mexico’s first World Cup game, and the atmosphere was amazing. We watched together with guests and employees, and the bar staff were great. I chose this resort for my first solo trip to Mexico because I wanted a quiet getaway despite the mixed reviews. It’s not a spot for partying or lots of adult entertainment. The place felt clean and safe, and since I came in the off-season it never felt overcrowded. Kids didn’t bother me. Sometimes I wore headphones, and other times I just listened to the waves. The three-tiered pool is beautiful and never seemed crowded. The beach opens at 6 a.m., so you can get sunrise photos, though the sun sets over the courts and that’s not great for pictures. The mall is about 5 km away. I walked there and felt completely safe as a solo woman. Service was honestly 5/5. I tipped, but staff at the restaurants and bars were friendly and helpful. I also liked that restaurant reservations weren’t needed. The ice used in drinks came from bags I saw them open, so I felt comfortable with it and never got sick. After my first night, I left a note asking them to stock only 7up because I don’t like Pepsi, and they filled the mini fridge with it. The gym was better than some I’ve seen in Canada. There was some rust that clearly came from leaks, but it felt clean, had enough equipment, and made it easy to get a good workout in on vacation. A few things to know: the adults-only pool rule wasn’t enforced. It was quieter and people respected the space while I read, and parents tried to keep their kids mindful, but the rule still wasn’t enforced. Beach service was nonexistent for me. I’m not sure if it was because I was reading or alone, since people around me got drinks and attention, but no one came to check on me. The resort doesn’t clean up the sargassum, though there wasn’t too much of it. To get a fresh towel, you have to talk to the same employees who sell excursions, which got annoying quickly. The common areas were really cold. I wore jeans and a sweater in the lobby bar and restaurants, so keep that in mind when packing.

The resort looks nice, but the experience was deeply disappointing. After checkout, we realized we’d left a purse and wallet in the room safe. We began calling and emailing about a week later and kept trying, but were repeatedly transferred or told to contact a supervisor. Luis Garcia, the supervisor we were directed to, hasn’t replied to any of our calls or emails for over a month. There were problems before we even arrived. We booked in November with a confirmed total of $884.31 including taxes. About two days before arrival, the hotel cancelled, saying the payment hadn’t gone through. We’d already been in Mexico for about a week, and our flight to Cancun was two days away, so we had few options. They offered to rebook the exact same stay at $1,098.39, over $200 more. At check-in, we were told our originally booked room was unavailable and were immediately offered an ocean-view upgrade for another $100 USD per night. Other guests told us they’d had similar reservation and room availability problems, which made it feel like this might be a pattern rather than a one-off mistake. We were also required to pay an unexpected “mandatory tax” in cash on arrival. The booking confirmation puts the environmental tax at about 79 pesos per night, but the hotel charged roughly 1,500 pesos in cash and wouldn’t provide a proper receipt when asked. After check-in, we were sent to a “hotel guide” who supposedly explained the amenities. It turned into a timeshare presentation. We were promised things like dolphin excursions and VIP breakfast, but it took up a big part of one vacation day. The so-called orientation felt like a sales funnel, with promised excursions or perks that rarely seemed to match what was described. The food was poor, many amenities closed early, and even towels were often unavailable. Between the cancelled booking, more expensive rebooking, room upsell, unexplained cash charge, timeshare pressure, and no help getting our belongings back, this was one of our most disappointing resort stays. Travelers should document things carefully and double-check charges and policies before booking.

Our family stayed at Seadust Cancun in February 2026, and the whole visit was a disaster. When I raised the safety concerns with the head manager, Roberto, and asked to leave early with a refund, he was rude and refused. He even said he didn’t care if I left a bad review. We reported feces in the children’s pool, but staff ignored us and wouldn’t drain it or close the area. My whole family got food poisoning, which we believe came from the cold, stale food, and our vacation was ruined. We also found exposed live high-voltage wires where guests could reach them, and light bulbs held up with electrical tape. In our room, a broken mirror had huge, sharp shards at a child’s height, and some furniture was splintering. Water poured through the buffet ceiling, and there were holes in the outside walls. The beach currents and waves were far too rough for children to go near the water. The lifts were out of order about half the time, which was awful with a stroller. Showers were unpredictable, often lukewarm or freezing. Dining could mean waiting two hours for a table and another hour for food, which would likely arrive cold. Activity and restaurant schedules were inaccurate, so people kept turning up for things that had already ended. Despite being all-inclusive, we were repeatedly upsold, and decent alcohol, quality food, and even room service came with extra fees. You had to get up by 7 a.m. to reserve a chair at the small beach or pool, and towels were usually gone by 10. The kids’ pool was far from everything else, and snacks weren’t allowed there. There was also nonstop noise from nearby construction and loud music through the night. I wouldn’t stay here again. The food poisoning and Roberto’s response to serious safety concerns made this place feel like a liability.
