Villa Antilope

We barely spent time in the room, mostly using it to sleep for a couple of hours, but the pool was nice and breakfast was good. There were also some workout tools for Pilates, yoga, or stretching. The location was great for the price, near pickup points used by bus tours, and several mini markets made it easy to grab something early before a tour. The room itself was nice, though the shower glass doesn’t fully enclose it, so the floor could get wet when you step out. For the cost, location, and service, I’d give it a 9.9/10.

If you have a car and need an affordable hotel for a couple of nights, this is a good option. The staff were friendly and tried to accommodate requests. It’s a basic place, with a comfortable bed, bathroom, TV, good AC, and a terrace. Breakfast is served in the morning and was delicious, all homemade. The rooftop pool is beautiful. It’s in downtown Cancun, about 20 minutes from the fun activities the city offers, so it may not be the best choice if you’re new to the area.

For the low price, the stay was okay, but don’t expect much. The rooms are small, and our mosquito net door was broken. We accidentally got locked out of the bathroom and had to ask the owner for the key, which wasn’t ideal. The pool and tables didn’t look like they did in the photos, so we didn’t use them. Breakfast was fresh fruit, instant coffee, dry toast with marmalade, and freshly cooked eggs. Not great, but alright.

We paid for breakfast, but the hotel wouldn’t adjust the timing for our 7:45 excursion. Breakfast was at 8:30, and they wouldn’t serve it a little earlier. One of the women was kind, but I guess the chef didn’t want to get up early. Many Cancun tourists take excursions that mean leaving early, and the hotel should account for that by offering breakfast sooner. Poor customer service.
