Azul Hotel & Restaurante

The food was a real treat: the restaurant across the road on the beach has a great chef who can make authentic Indian dishes. We also ate breakfast each day at the hotel’s upstairs restaurant. A cheerful Mexican guy helped us understand the options and brought each dish to the table with a smile. Our room was a decent size and comfortable, though the beds were pretty hard, and we had hot showers every day. We were pleasantly surprised that the hotel owner welcomed us and spoke perfect English. The hotel is perfectly placed for a walk along the beach and a cool drink in the shade. Our host also arranged a taxi to the Collectivo station and made sure we got the best deal for the onward trip.

There’s a beach club across the road that plays thumping music until 2am. That made it hard to sleep, though it’s not the hotel’s fault. If you sleep deeply or are up for a party, it shouldn’t be a problem. The little hotel is right on the beach, and the rooms are clean, comfortable, and all have AC.

The hotel has a distinctive look, unlike any other building around it. Beach and restaurants are just across the street, and I’d stay here again. Our two-bed room was 600 pesos/$30 USD in Nov. 2020. Staff were very helpful. The room was spotless with a pleasant coconut smell, split AC, cotton sheets, firm beds, and a TV. There’s a restaurant, parking on the premises, hot water if you give it time, one outlet by the bedside, and WiFi.

Several restaurants with beach views are right across the street, and the location is great. The room was small, but the staff were friendly. It worked well for one night while passing through. With the doors and walls not insulated, I wouldn’t recommend staying longer.
