I spent plenty of comfortable time in the pool, which stays warm all day and night, even for morning and evening swims. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the rooms felt roomy with comfortable pillows. Breakfast had enough to choose from, including the usual Mexican dishes. The TVs could use an upgrade since the cable isn’t HD, but it was a very good stay.

They even keep our rental car near the front lobby so they can watch it for us. That kind of care means a lot on vacation. This older hotel is our regular halfway stop when we drive from Mexico City to Merida, and they always treat us like VIPs.

I can’t overstate how bad my room was. It was damp, noisy, and old, nothing like what they make it sound like. There were no towels when I arrived, no shower curtain, and only half a roll of toilet paper. They didn’t replace the towels the next day, and I had to ask for coffee supplies. The couch had clearly been taken out, leaving a big empty space. A fixture leaked and the AC barely worked. Calling this a three-star hotel is a joke. Go to the HI Express instead. This place is awful.

The pork and huitlacoche quesadillas were delicious, and both hit the spot. Before those, I tried a few things from the buffet, including chilaquiles, picadillo, rajas, and beans. They were good, but something felt like it was missing.

The food was really nice, though service can be very slow if you’re in a hurry. It’s a small hotel in a great spot in Ciudad del carmen. They don’t exchange euros, only dollars, but they’ll take you to a nearby bank to change your euros. A good place.
