Hotel Casa Real Del Cafe

We liked the cozy, comfortable feel of this hotel right in the centre of town. The continental breakfast seemed fine, and the single rooms are small but still comfortable, even if the pictures make them look much larger. I liked the room. The trouble started with the heat. There's no AC, and it was so hot in the room that we couldn't sleep the first night. They moved us downstairs, but the next morning we both had lots of bug bites on our legs. My wife even got severe blisters. We found bugs in the bed, and spent an hour checking and cleaning it so we could sleep. The water also swings between too hot and too cold, with no comfortable middle. The stay wasn't cheap. I hope they fix these problems.

The rooms were wonderful, and there's a lovely open area where you can sit, relax, or eat. Service was excellent. The only small letdown was the included "continental" breakfast, which is just a little pastry, so you'll end up buying more. The food is pretty good, though :)

I loved this Hotel! The rooms are beautiful, very clean, and have comfortable beds. The building has a "colonial" look, and the food was really good, especially the coffee. They treated us nicely too. One of the best for me, 100% recommended!!!

The hotel itself is very nice, but I can't recommend it to smokers. At check-in, the reception makes you sign house rules with a 1000 peso penalty for smoking. I found no smoking area, so I went outside every time. The cameras and receptionists can confirm that. I kept my cigarette butts in my pockets so I wouldn't litter the street, then threw them in the trash in my room. The staff saw that too. Even so, two days later the receptionists insisted that, based on her sense of smell and that of a colleague, I had smoked in the room. They made us pay 1000 pesos. The owner said by phone that he believed me, but also said disposing of cigarette butts in the room was forbidden, or having any smell of smokers in the room. We were on a business trip, and my colleagues confirmed what happened. At one point she wanted to negotiate for 500 pesos. I refused on principle because I wouldn't agree to something I hadn't done. To me, this felt like extortion, and it's a shame for a hotel with so much potential. It left us with a very bad impression of our visit.
