Amalys Luxury Resort

My fiancé and I spent two nights at Samora Luxury Resort in early November to celebrate our engagement, and the whole stay was perfect. The resort is gorgeous, with unmatched views and a pure luxury atmosphere. The owner and staff made the experience. When the owner found out we’d just gotten engaged, he personally upgraded us to a stunning ocean-front room. It was such a kind gesture. My family don’t speak English or Spanish, but the staff were patient, warm, and professional, and made sure everyone felt cared for despite the language barrier. If you’re looking for a place in Puerto Escondido where they treat you like family, stay here. We can’t recommend it enough!

I stayed here with my son last week, and both the staff and the property were amazing. One evening he had a fever, and they quickly arranged to have medicine brought over. They went above and beyond to accommodate us during the trip. We’ll be back soon!

The price was about $450 USD per night, and the resort didn’t deliver the luxury that price suggests. Although Samora Luxury Resort has a beautiful, private setting that first feels luxurious, the upkeep and essential amenities let it down. Faucets didn’t work properly, there weren’t proper beach towels, and many lounge chairs were in poor shape. The property seemed to need a major upgrade. The bohemian style could be appealing, but the details fell short. Sheets, towels, and food, priced at $30 to $50 USD per item, were below what I’d expect at this cost. Those shortcomings took away from what could have been a relaxing, memorable stay. We still had a wonderful time, and the setting is beautiful, but the resort felt overpriced, especially for a country like Mexico 🇲🇽. With significant improvements, Samora could reach its potential.

I stopped in for a drink during my son’s wedding. Amazing place, such a vibe. A friend was staying there, and their room was adorable, spacious, and air conditioned.
