The grounds looked nice, and they supplied potable water. There was also a communal kitchen, where we could use our electric kettle in the morning. We didn’t get a chance to sit by the pool because we went out to eat and visit both the cowboy and mining museums. The main issue was the price: we’ve paid about $25 US per night for two people with full hookups elsewhere in Baja, but here dry camping cost us around $50 US for one night. We felt that was far too much, especially with weak shower pressure and no internet at our van site. We asked about staying another night at a lower rate, but the owner wouldn’t offer one. It was Monday, with no one else in the cabanas and just one other van camper there. My husband and I were traveling in our camper van, and this is dry camping with no hookups, charged per person at $425+ pesos each. We paid $49 US, in pesos, for the night. Campers share one room with a shower and toilet. The water was hot, but the pressure was poor. We couldn’t get internet from the van area and had to go near the reception office.

A charming little boutique hotel right in El Triunfo’s historic mining town. A handy place to stay while exploring the town, or just to take it easy.

Breakfast was really good, and we ate it while watching an endemic hummingbird build her nest. The room and the rest of the property felt clean and welcoming, and the internet worked well. The owner-operators were friendly and accommodating. It’s a unique property in a unique town, with distinctive rooms. We had a great stay and plan to come back. One thing to know: El Triunfo shuts down at 5 PM, so eat before then or bring food with you.

The cabin had a good view and felt tucked away from the other guests. There was a table and two chairs outside, plenty of room indoors, and a big bed. The shower room was great, with a pretty sink, and we could park right outside. After check-in, someone showed us up the hill to the cabin. Down below, there’s a pool and a shared breakfast space where you can also cook dinner. Plenty of loungers and chairs are set out outside. It’s a little off the road, but worth finding. We were quite impressed with the hotel and El Triunfo.

Crossing the creek bed could be tricky in a small vehicle when the water is high. It was mostly dry when we came through. We’re bikepackers, and this place suited us well. A small family runs the quaint business with a very friendly staff. My partner and I rode up to the beautiful compound and were struck by the grounds. We stayed in a cabin and were glad we chose it. There’s a huge shared area for games, grilling, picnics, swimming, or whatever you feel like. We’d come back if we’re in the area again.
