Atika Retreat

I left a night early. For a birthday trip, I’d hoped the place would match what was advertised, but it was a letdown. There was no mini fridge, and several things seemed misrepresented. A boutique hotel right next door costs about $40 more a night, and unless you’re on a tight budget, I’d stay there instead. The shared areas looked neglected, with trash and empty beer and liquor bottles around. The trash only got changed after we asked, once animals had gotten into it. There were broken tables and patio furniture, and the sauna wasn’t usable while we were there. We asked to check in early and were told the property was full, which I understood. But we sat by the pool from 1 p.m. until check-in and didn’t see anyone enter the complex. When we were finally told our room was ready, it was still dirty. We were the only guests there for two days. We had to ask for the hot tub to be turned on. The second night, nobody responded. On the third, they promised to have it ready with firewood since we couldn’t use it the night before, but then it was PACKED with people. I can deal with a bare-bones stay, but it should be advertised that way.
