Demetria Bungalows

We checked out and moved to another hotel after about an hour, since it was clear the problems weren’t going to be fixed. Sewage smells were coming up through the bathroom drains, and the other room they showed us had the same issue. When rooms were vacant, they left the doors open, presumably to air out the smell, and bugs got in too. The hotel was understanding and refunded our stay. I really wanted to like it, but we had an awful experience.

The stay was wonderful, though I’ve spent three weeks trying to get my security deposit back. The front desk attendant charged the hold to my card instead of releasing it, which is unfortunate after such a great visit. We stayed one night in a premium room. It was spacious, modern, and very clean, with a small fridge and electric stovetop. The shower pressure was AMAZING, and the grounds had a lovely atmosphere, with old trees shading the courtyard and well-kept common areas. The place is beautiful and close to Guadalajara's old Town. Just keep in mind that AC is only in the master bedroom, not throughout the room.

I prefer Bungalows to its sister hotel around the corner. It’s a great pick if you want to stay in a converted Casona, with lots of good restaurants and everything within walking distance. We spent six or seven, maybe eight days here with family, across two interesting rooms. Each had a kitchen and was clean, though one got a lot of light and the other didn’t. The property is small, private, and arranged around a courtyard, with stairs.

We stayed five nights for a business trip, then decided to stick around for some sightseeing. The bungalow was modern, comfortable, and private. Staff were friendly and helpful to both me, with my minimal Spanish, and my wife, who speaks it fluently. For a longer stay, we’d hoped to use the kitchenette, but there were no grocery stores nearby, only convenience stores. There’s no coffee maker either, which I consider a must for an extended stay. I’ll absolutely book again and recommend the place, but next time I’ll be ready to walk around to find a larger coffee shop.
