Hotel Laffayette Ejecutivo

I chose this hotel because I needed to pick up my mom’s visa, and it’s just a few blocks from the visa center. It’s an old building, but good enough for the price.

Everyone was very polite and friendly, from the check-in desk and valet parking to the room service guys. For the price, the room was big enough, though the walls were a little thin. I had no trouble falling asleep. It’s a great location if you’re in town for an appointment at the US Consulate, and I’d stay here again.

At 1:45 AM, a man let himself into our room with a master key without knocking. He said he worked for the hotel but never explained why he was there. The hotel told us it was a mistake and there was nothing they could do. My kids, who are 8 and 10, were too unsettled to sleep comfortably for the rest of the night. It happened on Saturday, when finding somewhere else to stay was impossible. I wouldn't consider this place safe.

I’m not sure I’d stay here again, mainly because I needed an in-room safe. The website says every room has one, but that wasn’t true. The safes they said were available couldn’t fit a laptop, either. The basics were covered, and the place was clean, so for a three-star hotel the price felt fair. Just don’t count on extras like a hair dryer, iron, conditioner, or body lotion being provided by default. I don’t know whether you can request them. I once asked the maid not to clean my room, but it had been cleaned when I returned. That may be good or bad depending on your view, but it happened. If the safe doesn’t matter to you, it seems like a decent stay for the price.
