Las Sabilas Guest House

David and Wyn were helpful hosts and gave us good ideas for places to eat and explore. The room was comfortable, the WiFi fast and secure, and we really enjoyed relaxing indoors. Las Sabilas has lovely greenery and artistic details, with a shared kitchen and lounge that were great to have. It's centrally located, within walking distance of many popular sights, and getting to the rest of the area by Uber is easy.

I and my friends still miss Bob, who had a real gift for gardening. We loved his beautiful hideaway and stayed as his guests in 2009. I have photos of us at his home. I cooked two pots of Chicken Adobo for him, one when I arrived and another when I was leaving. He loved it so much. We used to have breakfast at Restaurante y Menudería Lidia. I also met the Coors Brewer Mrs. there, and she was such a cool chick. The other artists, she and I spent two weeks having fun touring the city. The Spanish Book Exhibition was fantastic. We were a group of mosaic mural artists invited to the event and sponsored by the City of Los Angeles.

Las Sabilas feels like another world once you pass through its vine-covered gates. It's quiet, calm, and safe, with each room its own kind of space. The greenery makes it feel like a tropical forest in the city, a peaceful break from the outside heat and noise, and several degrees cooler inside. A gorgeous hidden gem and a must-stay for anyone in Guadalajara.

This was easily my best stay in Guadalajara, even after trying the fancy hotels. It felt welcoming and so relaxing, and the pool area was a pleasant surprise. What a gem.
