One Guadalajara Centro Histórico

The breakfast buffet was actually decent, clean, and organized. That was probably the only good thing about the place. The rooms felt like an outdated Motel 6 with fewer amenities, the bathroom was microscopic and awkward to get in and out of, and the shower drain was so slow that the water rose about two inches. When we arrived, I saw they'd changed my reservation from a top-floor room with a bigger balcony to one with a smaller balcony. The receptionist's eyes bulged when she noticed the mistake. We put up with these problems until the first night, when I caught the cleaning lady going through our luggage on camera. We'd asked them not to clean our two separate rooms or go inside, and the guest in the second room also noticed their luggage had been disturbed. Management said they'd taken action, but the women traveling with me no longer felt safe in case of retaliation, so we left. They gave us a full refund for the remaining days, which I appreciated. I've never had such an unprofessional hotel experience.

The view is what makes the terrace rooms, and the hotel is in a great spot with everything you need just a short walk away. The rooms are modern, though a little worn, but they were fine since we weren't there to sit in the room. The bed was comfortable, the shower pressure was good, and the water got hot. There was a nice range of choices at the included breakfast buffet. A solid option if you're on a budget.

Our room was a good deal for the price and put us close to everything, and the view from it made up for the hotel no longer having a rooftop. The room itself was very basic, though, and we heard traffic in the evening and early morning. The shower water had a slight odd smell. The staff were incredibly nice and bilingual. If you want rooftop dining, you can go next door to doubletree without being a guest and enjoy the view there.

The location puts you right in the middle of everything, but I wouldn't stay here again. We waited 38 minutes to check in, and the room was far too expensive for its size. The elevators wouldn't read the hotel card, so we had to walk up and down. The room was old, with dirty walls and floor tiles that were loose or damaged. Walking barefoot felt dangerous, and we sometimes stumbled because of the floor. The toilet and shower area were tiny. At 5'6", I had to move carefully to avoid hitting the door. There are much better options just a block away. I wanted to try this place because it seemed like the best around, but the only thing it was best at was charging high prices for nothing worth that cost.
