Hotel Gandara Hermosillo

The location is handy, close to downtown and surrounded by good restaurants and night shows. The pool was nice too, though with the high temperatures people waited until 3 pm. I went for a swim at 7 am and it was cool. It’s a good hotel, even if it isn’t luxurious. The room was comfortable and both beds let us get some rest. Go for it!

The service was great, but I’d never go back. The street noise was very loud, the TV was only in Spanish, and the shower had barely a drip of water. The curtains didn’t close all the way, and the room smelled like dirty socks. The carpet was dirty enough to keep my socks dirty, the bed covers and chair were stained, and behind the bed was filthy.

There was no running water when I tried to shower in the morning, so I had to use bottled water. The room also smelled like sewer. The outlet by the bed had been ripped out of the wall, and the bathroom was blazing hot because its outside-facing window got sun and had no insulation. I’d definitely avoid staying here again.

The location worked perfectly for our event, but that was about all we liked. We booked four rooms for the weekend and they were below what the photos led us to expect. The beds were super hard, and there was a loud party that went on overnight until 6am. Our kids were awake all night and had to be at their competition by 8. The frustrating part was that the security guards did nothing about the noise. A neighboring guest said they saw the guards drinking beer at the party, though I didn’t see that myself.
