Awa Holbox Hotel Boutique

We came to Holbox as a family to celebrate my 30th anniversary, and I couldn’t have asked for a better trip. The staff were kind and attentive, and the breakfast was really good. The hotel itself is lovely, with beautiful decor and amazing rooms. We watched an incredible sunset, and the food at Fuego’s restaurant was divine. We ate there three times. For me, it’s definitely the best restaurant on Holbox. I’d happily stay here again if I return :)

The cleaning staff and waiters were lovely, and we enjoyed the food, the hotel’s design, and its style. But several problems made the stay feel far below the price, and there’s a long way to go before it matches a European 5-star hotel. Privacy was the biggest concern. Staff could see straight onto our balcony, people could pass behind the Presidential Suite, and there was construction next Doors. The utilities also failed several times: the electricity went out once, and Wi-Fi and water each went out twice. The room lighting wasn’t enough for getting ready, and there was nowhere to put clothes except hanging space. There’s no direct beach access, which was the most disappointing part. Sunbeds were often unavailable, and on our last day the sunbed area flooded because of the weather and what seemed like design flaws. We also had to spend extra money at other hotels just to get sunbeds. Given the high price and the standard we experienced, we left disappointed with the value.

My first visit to Isla Holbox, and this hotel was amazing. Loved being right on the beach. The staff were wonderful, attentive, and so kind. Great sunsets and a lovely vibe. You won’t regret it!

I wasn’t staying here, just stopped by, and the friendly staff welcomed me to choose from any of the 3 dining areas. I went up to the rooftop, where the bartender was so kind and attentive. And wow, the burger was the best I’ve ever had. The bun was perfectly buttered, with crispy bacon and melted cheese. What an amazing spot 🩷
