Hotel Estrella de Huasca

We had a double bed, and the mattress was in decent shape, neither too hard nor too soft. It had a plastic cover, which we took off for a comfortable night. The sheets were very thin and worn, with the fitted sheet's elastic no longer working; the pillows also felt worn, and I prefer thicker sheets and fuller pillows. The bedroom was clean, with only the occasional fly coming in from outside. There were gaps under and over the doors, so cold air got in. We blocked them with our dirty clothes. A back door opened from our room onto a shared balcony overlooking a small river. There's a fireplace, and they'll light it for you. Another load of wood costs $50 mexican pesos, which was totally worth it. The larger rooms with fireplaces looked amazing too, if you can afford one. The room had cable TV, though we hardly used it. It had no hair dryer, hand towel, floor towel, iron, or ironing board. The windows are single glazed, and both the main door and bathroom door are metal. The small bathroom has a shower, toilet, and little sink, plus a tiny window that was enough to air it out. Each room has a boiler, which staff will turn on if you ask. It heated the water in about five minutes, quick and efficient. There's a dog, chickens, rabbits, other birds, turtles, and a rooster that starts crowing very early and keeps going well into midday, so be ready for that. In general, it's a great place to stay if you don't mind being completely disconnected. The hotel says it has internet, but there isn't any.
