Hotel Hacienda San Miguel Regla

At the wedding reception, dinner was being served in a field by a river when people started shouting and standing on their chairs because tarantulas were coming out of holes and crawling over our feet. I killed one and saw two more, so I left the reception and went back to my room. The night stayed miserable. Around nine people waiting to dismantle the wedding furniture and dance floor slept just outside our room, laughing, smoking, and making noise. We reported it to the front desk, but they took an hour to come ask them to stop. They didn't, and the noise got louder as trucks came in right outside our window. We couldn't sleep all night. When we complained again, the staff said bugs were always around because the hotel was old and surrounded by nature, and the noise couldn't stop because they had to clear the wedding setup. Their best offer was a free night if I made another reservation and paid for one night. I told them I would never come back. The rooms were shown online with ceramic floors, but ours had very old, dirty rugs. They moved us to another room, where we found spiders, roaches, mosquitoes, and other bugs I didn't recognize. We were there for a wedding, and the whole experience was awful.

The history and scenery make this an amazing place to visit while you're in the area. The hotel side is a letdown, though. The rooms are spacious, but there's no TV, some rooms don't have a chimney, and the hot water runs out if you shower for more than five minutes. The service needs a lot of work. The staff aren't rude, but they don't offer the kind of help you'd expect from hotel employees.

All meals are included in the price, which is very accessible, and the restaurant serves buffet meals three times a day. The rooms are really nice, with nature all around, and there are two ecoparks nearby to the south with lots to do. It's a beautiful hotel in a quiet little town, great for getting away from the city and relaxing. I highly recommend it if you want a break from city stress.

The only good thing was that the property itself is beautiful. We paid 2800 pesos (USD140) per night, but the rooms were very basic and cold, and had animals in them. On the second day there wasn't even hot water. The restaurant charges too much for very basic food. For that price, I definitely wouldn't recommend it.
