Posada Real Ixtapa

It’s a small hotel and wasn’t too busy, right on the beach and close to plenty of good restaurants and souvenir shops. The staff were lovely and everything was clean. The safe was broken, there was no entertainment, and the food and selection were absolutely horrible. I wouldn’t stay again, though it was cheap for what you get.

The menu food won’t disappoint, and the staff treat you like family from arrival to departure. It was great seeing some new staff join too, yes, genesis, that means you. The hotel has been updated with lovely balconies for watching sunsets or having morning coffee. I’ll definitely be back next year. I miss you all. See you then.

It’s an older hotel with good service and good-quality food and drinks. The beach is large, but the waves are dangerous, so swimming in the ocean is out. There’s a very nice infinity pool and another pool set back from the beach. Correction: it was fairly empty when I first wrote this, but filled up later in the week. Service dropped quite noticeably, then picked back up once the staff got into the swing of things. The food quality also declined, with many more saucy buffet dishes, though you can still order from a menu at lunch and supper. I’d given it four stars, but lowered that to three. The hotel changed quite a bit when busy.

I only ended up here because my flight was cancelled, and I wouldn’t pay to stay here myself. $200US a night for small, musty, mold-smelling rooms, lumpy beds, and stained sheets. Part of the hotel was under construction, and seeing workers sleeping or hanging out at the site was super weird. The room had cockroaches, no safe, and dirt and grime everywhere. I was also woken at 330am by barking dogs. We didn’t finish the food at the hotel restaurant, and the buffet looked even scarier. Staff were pleasant and helpful, and the ocean view was the only good thing. The pool looked nice too. The whole resort needs more cleaning.
