Hotel Maya Ixtlan

Cheap, and right in centro.

I booked two nights, but they lost my reservation. They left me waiting at reception for hours and never sorted anything out. Terrible place. Be prepared to file a complaint with the consumer protection agency (Profeco) afterward if you book here.

For a night while passing through, the central location could work. A single room costs 440, and mine was acceptable with warm water. What bothered me was how much noise there was, especially from people arriving at night. The door is a huge window that spans the room, though curtains block the view. Acceptable overall.

The central spot made it easy to reach restaurants, mini markets, and other village amenities. We were tired after traveling all day and stopped at this hotel in the heart of Ixtlan del Río to shower and rest before getting back on the road. We booked through Booking.com, thinking the price was settled, but taxes were missing and added about 70 pesos to the night's cost. The photos hadn't prepared us for peeling walls and shabby furniture, and the floors weren't very clean. A few hairs were visible on the floor, which suggested the cleaning hadn't been great. Still, it gave us what we needed for a restful night.
