We stayed in the pink bungalow, the honeymoon suite, and loved having fresh fruit, homemade local bread like biscotti, sliced bread, fresh-squeezed juice, and coffee for breakfast each morning. Juan also offered us a memorable afternoon drink, Mexican cucumber and mint lemonade. My husband usually doesn’t like cucumber, but he loved it. Juan showed us the cucumber, which looked different and had a mild flavor. I floated in the pool and felt like the water was more buoyant. It was lovely to walk safely from town to Juan’s and see more of the town. Izamal is away from the popular areas, which made the stay even more special. From the moment we were welcomed at the gate, everything felt magical. This is Juan and his staff’s labor of love, and it shows in every inch. Juan is gracious, informative, talented, modest, and delightful. Excellent in every category.

A peaceful little haven in the middle of Izamal. We felt so good here with my husband that we stayed an extra night to enjoy the town, garden, pool, and room, and to take our time. The owners and staff were really nice and had good recommendations. Don’t hesitate, this place is so peaceful!

The location details on hotel booking sites can be misleading: it says 1.9 km from the city center, but the place is two blocks from Pirámide de Itzamatul and five from Pirámide Kinich Kakmó. There are mini fridges in the rooms, hot water in the showers, and a lovely pool in a beautifully kept garden. Breakfast, included in the price, is simple: fruit, toast, coffee, and tea. There’s also a little cafe where you can buy coffee, tea, and pastries in the evening, plus off-street parking inside a gated compound. We found the place by walking in to ask about a room. It was March, and the Yucatan outside Cancun was empty, so we had the place to ourselves. There are about four rooms. The reviews were great, and now I understand why. It was the nicest place we stayed in the Yucatan. The rooms are immaculately decorated, and Juan is a caring host. He and his small staff are always busy looking after the property and their guests. If you’re looking for a room, don’t look any further. This was the nicest place and best deal we found on our trip.

Great place.

The people working at the hotel were very attentive, and the decor was lovely, with lots of plants and ornaments. I liked this place a lot. Breakfast was very good. There’s a fee if you want the coffee with more options, but the simpler coffee suited me just fine. I definitely recommend it!
