Hacienda Sacnicte

We stayed for two nights as part of a longer trip and had a great time. Nacho, our taxi driver, took us to the sights and really made the outing for us. The hotel staff were lovely and helped arrange day trips to cenotes and Chichén-itzá, and the food at the hotel was great. The restored 19th century villa still has plenty of its original character. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

We were there for five nights, and the quiet, secluded setting made this a lovely base for exploring Izamal and the Yucatán interior. The gardens were beautiful, breakfast was delicious and reasonably priced, and the team were warm and helpful. I had my toddler son with me. It isn’t especially equipped for little kids, so a high chair and a kids menu would be welcome, but the staff’s kindness more than made up for that. We’d love to come back someday.

The manager found me a coffee before the restaurant opened for breakfast, and everyone on staff was so friendly. Breakfast was simple but did the job: two eggs, a little fruit, yogurt, granola, toast, and all the strong coffee we wanted. We also spent the morning by the lovely pool before heading out. The room was very nice, with a good bed, nice linens, a huge bathroom, and good A/C. We had a fantastic evening and morning enjoying the hacienda.

Such a beautiful place, but the hotel is just OK as it is. Some fresh paint in the rooms and getting rid of the shower mold could make it a nice hotel. The service was friendly, but the slowest I’ve come across in Mexico. At breakfast, the eggs took 30 minutes, then the silverware came 5 minutes later, and the coffee another 10 minutes after that. Please work on the service, and this could be an enjoyable place.
