The place itself is lovely, but my experience with the staff was upsetting. My husband and I had planned to spend our honeymoon here, and when the pandemic worsened, they wouldn't refund our money. I also felt they were prejudiced toward us because of how we looked and dressed. That's my personal opinion, but I wouldn't want anyone else to go through it. If you might need a refund, I'd choose a hotel willing to return your money for legitimate reasons. Don't book here unless you're certain you'll be able to come. Guests should be treated as valuable, with their needs put first.

The room itself was a mess: flies, a shower that smelled strongly of sewage, and internet too poor for work or even basic browsing. They also seemed unhappy about guests working there, which is ridiculous given the high rates. At reception, Rosa pushed pricier suites, saying there were no standard rooms, though the hotel was practically empty. Staff covered for one another, so complaints and requests went nowhere. From arrival on, I found them rude and unprofessional, with no interest in helping, and cleanliness was questionable. They market Hotel Dan Carlos La Barca as prestigious and charge like a high star hotel, but my stay was one of the worst travel experiences I've had. If you care about your money, time, and peace of mind, avoid it. It made for an uncomfortable, unpleasant stay.

I was in Sahuayo for work, and the location suited me perfectly. The rooms were a good size, comfortable, and very nice, and the staff gave excellent guidance and support. One of the best hotels in the region, 100% recommended.
