The room wasn’t ready until 4pm, even though check-in was supposed to be at 3. We were put in block number 3, facing the main road, with traffic noise, and had a long walk to the room at the back, far from the elevator. The floor was still dirty under bare feet, there was hair on the bathroom floor, and there was no phone. The bell boy said he’d tell reception, but after an hour with no response, we had to walk all the way there and ask again. They said they’d send someone, so we were stuck waiting in the room. Restaurants are off limits unless you pay 1500 pesos per person for the all inclusive wristbands. Without one, you only get the breakfast buffet. A lot of other people had the same complaints about the distance and the blocks being so far apart. Wouldn’t recommend it, the hassle isn’t worth it.

The staff were very nice, and nobody tried to push us into a timeshare presentation. The Grill was very good when it was open to guests without a membership, and so was the hotdog/hamburger cart at the adult pool. We stayed because the Palmella building was closer to the pools and restaurants, which helped since one of us is disabled. But we’d booked a one bedroom suite at BelAir Sunclub and were “upgraded” from there into an outdated studio with a kitchenette and bare cupboards. There were no dishes, glasses, silverware or cookware, and the room looked nothing like the website pictures. It felt like a downgrade. We had just three bath towels and no wash cloths or hand towels; after asking, we got one wash cloth and five more towels. There was no hot water in the bathroom. The all inclusive plan was a waste for us. The buffet wasn’t very good, restaurants were open only on selected nights or restricted to members, so we ate out a lot. Coffee was available only at the buffet, where you couldn’t take it with you, or at the Take a Bite coffee shop on the 3rd floor. Nobody gave us any information at check-in, so we had to ask other guests.

The staff were friendly and great, though the food wasn’t that good. We’d reserved at the Krystal Grand, but at check-in they took us to BelAir across the street instead. It faces a busy highway and has no ocean view at all. Krystal Grand has 5 buildings, so make sure you know which one your reservation is for or you could be disappointed.

I paid $100 for a day pass while staying at an Airbnb in the BelAir residential condos across the street. Even after paying, I had to leave my driver’s license at the front desk as collateral. When I returned the next day, they sent me elsewhere to retrieve it, and they couldn’t find it right away. After I got my license back, I asked if I could walk through the resort to my condo. Althenas, my POC, said no. I asked for a security escort too, and was still refused. Then I asked for a cup of water because the road walk was some distance, but she said water was only for guests. She was extremely rude, and even her security staff seemed surprised by her behavior. Management apologized the next day. I spoke with several other customers who’d had similar experiences. Avoid this place at all cost.

MASSIVE COCKROACH in our shower the next day, and we were told to leave the room for a few hours while they fumigated it. Poolside service was nearly nonexistent on our days there, sometimes taking over 2 hours for food or drinks. We felt robbed, since this trip was meant to celebrate the bride and not one employee gave us more than 2 star service. This is not the official KRYSTAL GRAND RESORT. You face the road and have no ocean view. On arrival, it felt like staff despised our bachelorette group. The check-in lady was rude, tried to split us across different areas/buildings, then said there were no more suites like the ones we’d paid for. We had to downgrade to be on the same floor, but still weren’t near each other. They also charged an upfront cleaning fee for each room after we’d paid for the stay in full, and we couldn’t use the restaurants on our first day. At the Italian restaurant, they wouldn’t seat us together and argued that it was policy for 20 minutes. We even offered a tip to move one table over. They eventually did it angrily, and the next day we saw a 12 top seated without a problem. It seemed like rules were being made up for us. Most of our meals came wrong, and most of us are vegetarian but got served meat. The checkout was a mess too. Since this place isn’t part of the official resort, we were dropped by shuttle at another lobby. We were told when to be ready, and got called to say our pickup was there, but there was no shuttle at our lobby. The same check-in lady smirked and said it had left without us because we were supposed to be at the official resort lobby. We had arrived through the other lobby and hadn’t been allowed to use the official one, so we had no idea. They didn’t seem to care or want to help us get to the airport, said there was nothing to do, and told us to take a taxi even though we’d paid for the shuttle. Wouldn’t recommend this place.
