We ended up loving our time with the hosts so much that even the rain and wind throughout our stay in mahahaul didn’t make us want to leave. They were a lovely couple and had great suggestions for places to eat. The room was clean and modern, and the shower gets seriously hot, so be careful. Check out the food truck at the start of the street. I preferred that the hotel is in town rather than by the beach. It felt removed from the cruise ships, crowds of tourists, and noisy bars.

Carlos was such a kind, welcoming owner and went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable at Hotel Lavi. I also liked being in a more local part of town. I had a great stay and will choose Hotel Lavi again if I come back to Mahahual. Thanks, Carlos.

A place with everything you need close by, and an atmosphere that makes you want to return before you’ve even left. Even on a rainy day, it feels like the sun is shining. It brought to mind California in the 1970s, with that warm smell of Colitas in the air. A place full of ❤️
